NSW: Pedophile to serve at least 18 yrs for killing boy

SYDNEY, Aug 11 AAP - Convicted paedophile William Thomas Clare has been jailed for
at least 18 years and nine months for the rape and killing of a three-year-old boy in
his Sydney home.

Clare showed no emotion as Justice Michael Grove sentenced him to a maximum 25 years
for the September 2003 manslaughter of the toddler known as J.

Clare, 35, already is serving a 16-year sentence for raping the boys six-year-old sister.

"Words are really an insufficient medium to convey an appropriate condemnation of your
debauched behaviour," Justice Grove told Clare during sentencing in the NSW Supreme Court
today.

Justice Grove imposed a non parole period of 18 years and nine months for the manslaughter of J.

He also sentenced Clare to 14 years for the aggravated sexual assault of the three-year-old.

The sentences, to be served concurrently, will not begin until 2015 which is Clare's
earliest release date for the rape of the six-year-old girl.

He won't be eligible for parole until July 2033.
