FED: Metal detectors to be used in snowboarders search
Searchers are using metal detectors to scour two areas of the Snowy Mountains for a
collapsed snow cave which may have burried four snowboarders.
Families of the four Sydney adventurers have helped searchers identify two areas near the
junction of two creeks where the snowboarders have camped in previous winters.
Snow groomers are expected to begin excavating a 300-metre long ice cave-in at Kosciuszko
Cornice from 9.30 am (AEST).
A search team has reported that a dangerous ice overhang won't need to be blasted before
excavation because it's already collapsed.
Conditions this morning are clear and fine for a second day.
